I have to start off like most others who reviewed this place, MS sucks for beer, so don't expect too much off the wall beers. I've already joined! I will be back to West Point when my beer urges hit.which is often! Thank you, Smokestack! Aug 12, 2009 He also put me onto, the site for the group trying to repeal Beer Prohibition in MS. The guy behind the counter was very knowledgeable it seemed and made some great suggestions. I can't believe I've been missing the chance to purchase these beers for so long! They have quite a selection of Rogue bombers (of which I purchased several) and several other "legal" brews that I don't see much in other stores in this area. Living in Columbus I hadn't even heard of the place till I joined and searched places in Mississippi. And one of the best places we have is the Smokestack in West Point. Having said that, us beer lovers in Mississippi do the best we can with what we have. Since Alabama recently Freed the Hops that leaves Mississippi as the only state in the nation that doesn't allow high gravity beer. Living and working in Mississippi is not a garden spot for a true beer lover. Visited The Smokestack for the first time today, finally. Please note that I write this review in comparison to other beer stores I have visited across the nation. Come on out and see what the guys who used to make runs out of state to get real beer have to offer! They currently have four taps for filling growlers (soon to be six), a growing selection of Belgian Ales, everything from our lone local brewery (Lazy Magnolia) and, as far as I can tell, every Rogue that is being brewed.Īll in all, the best selection of beer I've seen in Mississippi and well worth the drive from Columbus or Starkville. I've made the trip over from Columbus twice now in two weeks, and I know I'll be back on a weekly basis for the foreseeable future.īoth times I've been in there I've been immediately asked what kind of beer I'm in the mood for and suggestions have been made, both by Phil, the owner and by various staff members. There are none in Columbus, a couple in Starkville that are trying to stock some better beer, and then there's the Smoke Stack, in West Point. Since Mississippi finally repealed its arcane beer laws, I started looking around for a good beer store. Hopefully Mississippi will overturn their ABV cap in the next year or two so Phil can keep expanding the selection. If you live within an hour, it's well worth the drive for the selection and conversation. You can come in and talk about the selection, what you'd like to see, what you can't get because of distribution and blue laws, what Phil's trying to bring into the state, beer styles, breweries, and just about anything else under the sun. In most beer stores, even good ones that I've been to in other states, the beer is just a product being sold. The best part about the store isn't even the beer itself. It doesn't sound like much, but it's a rare thing to see in this part of the state. Phil keeps singles out, and you can make your own six pack. The entire last third of the cooler is just packed with selections like Rogue Chocolate Stout, Sam Adams Chocolate Bock, atec, North Coast's Scrimshaw and Blue Star, and every new beer that finally works it's way into the state. And as you walk farther into the store you notice the selection in the beer cooler progress from Bud Light and PBR to the Sam Adams collection and every Rogue that you can find in the state, in six packs and bombers. But then you notice the massive walk-in humidor in the back of the shop. Coming in the front door, it looks like a standard beer and cigarette stop, the kind of place I normally wouldn't ever think about just hanging around. Phil has done a great job with The Smokestack. Go north, west, or east, in any direction and you'll quickly encounter a superior selection. First thing's first: As a result of a sad twist of lingering prohibition era legislation and mournable distribution, Mississippi has the worst beer selection in the country.

In a discussion about the best critically received film so far in the new century, perhaps insights can be gained by comparisons to the best critically received film of the previous one. Her quest to uncover information about her past, coupled with Betty’s journey to land work as an actress, takes place among a tapestry of other stories, which play out like vignettes, some lasting only a scene or two. In fact, she calls herself “Rita” only after looking at a poster for an old Rita Hayworth film, Gilda, from 1946. Betty meets dark-haired, doe-eyed beauty Rita (Laura Harring) who stumbles down Mulholland Drive after surviving a car accident. The happy-go-lucky smile will eventually be wiped off her face. The closest character Mulholland Drive has to a protagonist is Betty Elms (Naomi Watts), a cheerful, aspiring actress who arrives in town looking for work. They could get lost in the dream-like ambience of it while being engaged in an intellectual exercise deeply critical of the commercial realities of filmmaking: a sort of backhanded valentine to Tinsel Town. Infusing Mulholland Drive with pointed, perhaps pessimistic commentary about market forces in Hollywood, but also cramming it full of beguiling images, Lynch created a very appealing package for critics. One of the plotlines involves a hotshot director (Justin Theroux) who is bullied into casting a leading actress the powers that be want for his new picture, but he doesn’t. One of several small, shady characters is the mysterious Mr Roque (Michael J Anderson) who appears to control Hollywood from a wheelchair in his shadowy office. In early 2000 Lynch managed to rescue the project by agreeing to turn Mulholland Drive into a feature film, equipped with a budget twice the original size. They also objected to several things captured in the shoot, including an extreme close-up of dog excrement. He was given a green light by US cable network ABC, which hoped to replicate the success of the director’s small-town mystery serial.ĪBC was unimpressed with the first episode, which they considered slowly paced and drawn out – 37 minutes too long to fit into a conventional TV timeslot. Under its dream-like veneer, Mulholland Drive is a brilliant commentary on Hollywood’s machinations, at least partly informed by its own woes.īeginning life during the development of Lynch’s cult TV show Twin Peaks, the director eventually pitched an idea for Mulholland Drive as a series in 1998. Mulholland Drive’s own troubled history, and the studio politics and power plays depicted by Lynch in the film itself, hardly feel like coincidences. We combined protection and accessibility to arrive at a numeric score. We assessed each submission on these criteria: material, adjustability, comfort, durability, modularity, optic protection, accessibility, versatility, style, and value. This test also assessed how much bouncing, sag, and movement each harness allowed while we moved dynamically. These drills allowed us to assess the protection of the optic, and durability of the material and to determine how well they accommodated the range of movement. We jogged with each unit on our chest, crossed a fence that required some awkward calisthenics, crawled through an obstacle course, and then shot prone while wearing the harnesses. Then we added any accessories that brands sent with their flagship bino harness and assessed the comfort, versatility, durability, and protection during our dynamic drills. In this portion of the test, we measured the quietness, abrasion resistance, and modularity of each model. We conducted a “dry” run, seeing how each model fit, whether any straps flapped or slipped, and how customizable each model was to every tester’s frame. Our team fitted each model to their particular torso, then we loaded the main pouch with a size-appropriate binocular and added rangefinders, bear spray, accessories, and even handguns as the model allowed. We subjected every submission to the same series of inquiries and indignities. How We Tested the Best Binocular Harnesses Testing included a variety of drills and optics used in each harness. Best Optics Protection: Marsupial Enclosed Binocular Pack.Best Overall: Eberlestock Recon Modular Bino Pack.We hope our review will help you the way it helped us: to decide which of the best binocular harnesses is right for your style of hunting. So we tested nearly a dozen bino harnesses while belly crawling, listening for faint sounds, accessorizing them with pouches, and using them to protect a wide variety of optics. We’ve been in the same situation, unsure of which brand and model will fit our binocular, plus accommodate rangefinders, mobile phones, bear spray, and other necessities. The industry, recognizing that most of us will happily spend $125 or more on the right harness, has produced such a wide variety of designs and capabilities that it can be hard to know which binocular carrying system is right for you. The simple answer: we’d be helpless without these handy, versatile pouches. How else would we carry a binocular-protected from the elements-along with a laser rangefinder, our phone, an elk or coyote call, plus maybe bear spray and a handgun, than in these handy chest packs that allow our hands to carry everything except our optics? But along the way, they’ve become essential pieces of our hunting, hiking, and outdoor recreation kit. There are plenty of great products out there on the shelves these days, but we feel like our products shine because they are made in small batches, using high-end natural ingredients. What are the differences between your products and those that are on the shelves in big stores? But the goal was to always keep the ingredient list simple and natural, and to use as many herbs and flowers that we could grow ourselves in the products. Chris joined in on the formulating and took it to a whole new level. I (Eliza) had started learning with an herbalist while living on a farm in Canada on Cortes Island. At first, it was making herbal extracts (tinctures) and salves and balms. Later, as my knowledge grew, I began formulating more complex combinations, like creams, lotions, and soaps. How did you learn how to make products off the land? Then she and I started dabbling in making soap together one winter for a holiday fair. Then things really took off, and Eliza’s lease of the flower farm was ending, so it seemed like a perfect moment for a shift. A few years later, when our first child Linnea was born, I became more involved, and slowly shifted from my career building houses to be a full time partner in Island Thyme. Island Thyme has gradually unfolded over the last couple of decades. We always like to say it has developed organically, slowly and steadily, on “island time.” Eliza had a flower farm and nursery business and was doing the farmers’ market with fresh flowers and plants, but always had a few of her handmade herbal products at the booth as well, mostly salves and tinctures to start. How did Island Thyme come about – was it a plan from the start or did it gradually unfold over the years? We shared a mutual interest in beatnik literature and had both moved to the Pacific Northwest from the East Coast, so we immediately had some common interests to share. We were both attending Evergreen State College and met through mutual friends. Many of us islanders have their locally grown and made products in our pockets, showers, and cabinets. While I’ve crossed paths with them umpteen times over the years in the parking lot at Salmonberry School, at farmers’ market and various holiday faires, downtown in front of their store, and in the process of including them and their business in my book, I haven’t had the chance to hear more of their story until now. Chris and Eliza Morris are the owners of Island Thyme and some of the most genuine, down-to-earth people you’ll ever meet. The Butler family from Charles, Montgomery, Prince George's, and St. As mentioned in the commentary by Asian film expert Frank Djeng, they were trying out a more realistic style, but with a film that contains such a rich tapestry of fighting arts, having actors wildly flailing across the screen feels like a missed opportunity. This does present the film with its only weakness – the choreography is messy. One Armed Boxer is relentless, with large set-piece fights (especially those with our eclectic fighting practitioners) taking up much of the runtime. Diversity isn’t the name of the game here, with an Indian yoga master played by a Chinese actor brandishing grey face paint, while the delightfully evil Japanese karate supremo has fangs! The second is Wang Yu’s kinetic direction – the title sequence thunders into gear with the music from Shaft and Tien Lung’s recovery is shown via a series of stills. These include Shaolin Lamas, Thai kickboxers, and a Japanese judo expert. The film stands out for two reasons the first being the fantastically silly mix of global fighters, hired by the villain. With the help of an old herbalist and his daughter, he must learn the ‘Crippled Fist’ to exact his revenge. After Yu Tien Lung (Jimmy, who also directs) humiliates his rival Kung-Fu school, they hire a team of mercenaries to get revenge, severing Tien Lung’s arm in the process. Originally released in 1971, the plot is a simple one. Eureka Entertainment’s latest release is a little light on extras but makes up for it with a solid transfer of a hugely entertaining film. His last major roles came in Cheh's unfunny comedy Kung Flop THE MAGNIFICENT WANDERERS (1977) and the ill-conceived war picture, NAVAL COMMANDOS (1977). One of his best, and biggest roles was as the traitorous monk in Chang Cheh's two hour chronicle SHAOLIN TEMPLE (1976). Chang Cheh paired him once more with Lung Fei as two of the main villains in the underrated, aforementioned epic THE SHAOLIN AVENGERS (1976). He worked on a handful of other Shaw Brothers pictures like the co-pro with Taiwanese Jih Mao Film Company, NA CHA AND THE SEVEN DEVILS (1973), completed in 1970 and another Shaw co-pro in THE CHAMPION (1973). Much like Lung Fei, Shan Mao played a good guy at least once in Chang Cheh's exceptionally poignant THE NEW SHAOLIN BOXERS (1976). Frequently playing Japanese bad guys, in ONE ARMED BOXER he plays a Taekwondo specialist in Kung Fu Dracula's Legion of Doom. It’s the part of Ultimate Team most likely to have you launching controllers at walls. In FIFA 19 my record was better, but some defeats still felt ‘scripted’. I scored 749 wins online and offline in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team, with a win percentage of 87%, yet never won a Squad Battles game on Ultimate difficulty. More detailed, and realistic, answer: accept that a top 100 placing is highly unlikely unless you’re close to the level of an eSports pro and/or have an all-Icons super squad. TL DR answer: play all 40 games and win as many as possible on Ultimate difficulty. Bear this in mind when choosing your difficulty setting for each fixture. Note that overall ratings can be deceiving: if an opponent has an 81 ‘OVR’ but 100 ‘CHEM’, it’s likely to still prove formidable. You can compare all six on the Opponent Select screen within Squad Battles, using a large rectangular panel that shows each side’s kits, stadium, tactical set-up, three key players, rating and chemistry. There are six you can choose to play at any one time: a celebrity-created team, the current FIFA 20 TOTW, and four fan-made squads. Opponent teams are mostly created by fellow FIFA players. A key risk-reward wrinkle is being able to choose your difficulty setting before each match, with more points on the line if you win on Ultimate or Legendary. This is all you need to do to install Eclipse color theme. All you need to do is to download the XML file and import it under Eclipse Color Theme like this: You can get more at Eclipse Color Themes website. There are around 20 color themes in this plugin. If you do not know already, Sublime Text is one of the best text editors for Linux and Windows. Here is what my Eclipse looks like with Sublime Text 2 theme. You can choose the one you like and press OK. When you select that, it will show you different available themes in the right pane. In the left sidebar, go to General->Appearance->Color Theme. Now that we have installed the color theme plugin, it is time to use this plugin and change the skin of Eclipse. Once the installation is finished, you’ll need to restart Eclipse before you could use the newly installed plugin. You’ll also see a security warning during the installation. Once added, you’ll see that Eclipse Color Theme (or whatever name you chose) has appeared. Browse to the downloaded zipped file and click OK. In the previous step, while adding the source, click on Archive for offline installation. Download the Eclipse Color Theme from the link below (on the system where you have internet access). You just need the zipped file of the plugin and you are good to go. You can install any Eclipse theme offline. If your computer cannot be connected to internet, don’t despair. I named it Eclipse Color Theme for obvious reasons to easily recognize it (if you have several plugin installed already). If you are connected to the internet, just add the following URL in location. I am using Ubuntu Linux to demonstrate changing themes in Eclipse, but this should be the same procedure for Windows and Mac OS X version. If you prefer dark, you can give Eclipse a dark look easily. I am just going to show you how to change the default light colored theme in Eclipse and give it a new, fresh and different look.
